Canes junior, Sydney Lauryn Barrett, finished 9th place on the vault on Friday night at the GHSA State Gymnastics Meet held at Westminster. Barrett scored a 9.15 on the event.

Barrett qualified for the state competition by placing in the top 12  on the vault in the preliminary competition held last weekend at Dunwoody. The top 6 teams and the top 12 individuals were chosen to compete in the State Meet. Barrett competed against the top 36 gymnasts (individual vault qualifiers and team qualifiers) in the state on Friday night for a 9th place finish.

Barrett’s other accolades include an all-around qualification and beam championship in 2013 which made her the first gymnastics state champion since 2007. She also helped the Canes Competition Cheerleading squad to a championship in 2014.
