Girls Varsity Gymnastics · Gymnastics 2nd on Senior Day

The Canes Gymnastics team finished in 2nd place at the Cartersville Invitational held on March 19. Senior gymnasts Sydney Lauryn Barrett, Sydney Castillo, Sarah Myrick, and Cameryn Wood were recognized for their accomplishments.

Senior Gymnastics Accomplishments:

Sydney Lauryn Barrett- 2013 State Balance Beam champion, 2015 State Qualifier, 4-year letterwinner

Sydney Castillo- 2-year letterwinner

Sarah Myrick- 2-year letterwinner

Cameryn Wood- 2-year letterwinner

Cartersville put up both a JV and a Varsity squad. On JV, Gracie Borkowsky (8th grade) competed on all four events and had the highest score of the night (9.0 on floor) of both the JV and Varsity squads. Ashlin Borkowsky (Fr) competed on bars and beam while Grace Cochran (Jr) competed on vault and floor. Dalu Evans (So) competed on the floor.

In the Varsity competition, Anna Robinson (Fr) competed in all four events earning a 4th place finish overall. Amber Seymour (So) competed on the vault, bars, and beam. Sydney Lauryn Barrett and Sarah Myrick competed on bars and beam. Anna Cooney (So) competed on vault and floor. Cameryn Wood and Sydney Castillo competed on floor.

Cartersville beat Madison County, Sequoyah, Jones County, and Harrison while Etowah won the meet. With this performance, the Canes secured their spot in the State Qualifier meet to be held in April.
