Wrestling Family, please read this week’s newsletter for upcoming events and ways you can get involved to help out!


Make sure you are entering your 20 emails in our Snap!Raise Fundraiser:  We would like to thank Phillip R, Maci C, Collin B, Connor M, Giles T, Tristan B, Kentrel F, Edwin B, Trent D, Muhammad R, Alexis O, Nate R, Camden M, Zafna A, Shadre H, Nanci S, Francisco O, Riley P, Paige N, and Jay C for getting all of their emails in last week.  We still have 15 days of this fundraiser left!!!  Let’s try to get to 100% participation by the team…right now we are at 33% of our team having entered 20 emails…that’s a 10% improvement from last week!!!  Good Job Everyone!!!  We are already getting donations!!!  As of Sunday, 11/4/2018, we have raised $1,440.00!!!  This is outstanding!!!  Our current leader in donations raised is Connor M.!!!


Make sure all of your forms are completed and turned in.  If you have not submitted your forms, you cannot compete in any events until this is done.  Forms were issued to wrestlers last week that still need to turn them in.  Below you will find the forms if you need to download them.  If you are not sure if you have turned them in or not, please email Coach Gayton or see him after practice.

After Practice Clean-Up Duties

We will be starting our after practice clean-up duties this week.  I have divided the team into 4 groups:

GROUP 1 – Edwin B, Jeffery H, Jabril W, Diego L, Trent D, Juan B, Connor M, Lyle F.

GROUP 2 – Kentrel F, Francisco O, Tytan G, Tyler E, Zafna A, Jay C, Camden M

GROUP 3 – Luis B, Eoin N, Nate E, Muhammad R, Joshua A, Mohammed K, Camren P, Giles T

GROUP 4 – Collin B, Alexis O, Brady J, Philip R, Shadre H, Chris L, Nate R, Mateo C

This week, Group 2 will have Mat Duty & Group 4 will have Locker Room Duty.  Please allow for approximately 15 extra minutes after practice for your wrestlers to complete their duty before they are ready to be picked up.  Thank you!


Parent Volunteer Shout Out:

A HUGE THANK YOU to Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins for donating the food and setting up for the team last Friday after practice for the 50/50 Raffle!!!  They absolutely loved it and it allowed them to train and help raise money for the team.  Thank you so much!!!


HELP NEEDED for Home Events this week:

We have 2 home events this week!!!  I could really use some parental help with feeding our wrestlers on Thursday after weigh-ins.  If anyone is willing to step in and take are of this for us, that would be great.  I do have a few jars of peanut butter, but we could use some donations of bread, granola bars, breakfast bars, fruit, and any other easy snacks that you could possibly donate.  Anything we don’t use on Thursday will go to feed our guys on Saturday this week as well.  We will be in need of cases of bottled waters for our wrestlers to drink as well.  I would like to set up our wrestling room as a “Cartersville Wrestlers & Tournament Workers Hospitality Room.  The hard part here will be keeping other teams out of our room during this time.  If I could get a parent volunteer to help out with this supervision that would be awesome.  If several of you wanted to donate some time at the event to supervise this room, and make sure only our kids are getting in, I’m sure we can get someone to cover while your wrestler is on the mat.  I will also need some help setting up and supervising the hospitality room for the coaches and officials.  The hard part here is making sure that the people coming into the room are only coaches and officials.  Outside of that, we want to set up a buffet style table that will have all of the food and drink items on it so the coaches and officials can get a quick snack and back out to coaching as quickly as possible.  If anyone is willing to supervise this area as well, that would be greatly appreciated.  I have asked Mrs. Cauthen to help us run the Concession Stand for this tournament since that will be the busiest area.  She has said she has many volunteers that will rotate through the day, but that she should be able to manage this station throughout the day.  If any of you would like to help her, I’m sure that she would appreciate it.  We will be doing biscuits in the morning, candy, chips, and pizza and drinks at concession.  It shouldn’t be terribly difficult, just busy.  I could also use somebody to help me coordinate all of this.  If any of you are interested in helping me this week to get everything we need together and organized to run a tournament, that would be awesome!!!  If you cannot help with this, one area that we could use donations is will be the drinks, candy and snacks for concession.  Anything that we don’t get donated, we will have to purchase and coordinating this would be a huge help to our program.  If you are available to help with this, please get in contact with Coach Gayton.  I’m really looking forward to the start of our season, and putting on a great tournament this weekend.

  • Friday – 11/9/2018
    • Varsity & JV Practice @ 4:15 PM – 6:15 PM
    • Varsity, JV & Women set up Storm Center for Coach Jeff Cave Memorial Tournament on Saturday.  Start immediately after practice and continue until finished.  Estimated time of completion is 9:00 PM.  Coaches will take care of any further set-up after 9:00 PM.
  • Saturday – 11/10/2018
    • Coach Jeff Cave Memorial Scramble – ALL DAY EVENT for Varsity, JV & Women’s Teams
    • Arrive @ 6:30 AM – Quick Check to make sure everything is set up and ready to go for the day
    • Weigh-Ins @ 7:00 AM – We will be first team to weigh in.  If you miss weigh-ins, you do not wrestle.
    • Varsity & JV  will be wrestling in the tournament.  Women’s team will be working tables and helping with other work areas as needed.  Any Varsity or JV Wrestlers not wrestling in the tournament, will be working stations as well.  Nobody can leave until they have checked out with Coach Gayton.
    • We will have to clean the Storm Center up after the completion of the event.  Everyone will be required to stay until clean-up is complete to help.  Biggest Clean-Up Duties include: taking trash out to dumpster, moving mats back into wrestling room, rolling up felt paper onto portable racks, moving any score-tables/chairs off gym floor, cleaning out bleachers of any trash, Hospitality room clean-up, Concession stand Clean-up.  Once all duties are completed, everyone will be dismissed by Coach Gayton.
    • We will have a lot of help at Saturday’s Tournament!!!  Mrs. Cauthen’s BETA Club will be volunteering at our event as some of our proceeds will go to help fund the Jeff Cave Memorial Scholarship that the BETA Club Sponsors.  This is a great opportunity we have to give back to our community and honor a man that meant so much to this program.  Please work with Mrs. Cauthen and help with anything she asks, and help the BETA Club participants as well in any way we can.
