Canes win Cass-Cartersville Invitational

The Cartersville High boys cross country team dominated the Cass-Cartersville Invitational at Dellinger Park, placing five of its runners among the top six at the 10-team event Tuesday.
The Cartersville girls, meanwhile, placed fourth out of eight teams, and the Cass and Woodland boys placed seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Canes occupied the top 2-6 spots in the boys race, led by Bill Archer with a time of 17:18, followed by Sidney Stegall at 17:35, Alex Rios at 18:02, Levi Booth at 18:10 and Colin McCann at 18:14.
The top scorer for the Cass boys was Andrew Glaze in 16th with a time of 18:56, followed by Bryce Kresho in 32nd with a time of 20:12, Jake Wright in 40th at 20:48 and Prem Patel in 41st at 20:51.
Woodland’s top runners did not compete in the event, but there were still some Wildcats with strong performances. Pierre Brunet placed 39th at 20:48, Jhon Gordon came in 44th at 21:23, Gabe Shephard placed 48th at 22:43, Lane Simmons was in 49th at 22:44 and Bryant Knox rounded out the scorers for Woodland with a time of 22:54.
For the Cartersville girls, McKinsey Spinks led the way with a time of 22:09, Alice Terry came in 18th at 24:27, Trinity Atkins placed 19th at 24:30, Trista Kelly placed 27th at 25:14 and Jexiry Betancourt came in 29th at 25:32.
For the Cass girls, Ashton Johnson led the way in 31st at 25:58, followed by Jessica Zukowsky in 35th at 26:57.
