Canes finish runner-up in Alabama
Three Cartersville boys ended up with top-10 finishes to help the Canes place second in the silver division race of the Jesse Owens Classic Saturday in Oakville, Alabama.
Junior Bill Archer (16:35.12) crossed the finish line a half-second before freshman Sidney Stegall (16:35.62), as the runners finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Less than 15 seconds back was sophomore Alex Rios (16:49.91), who came in 10th.
Levi Booth had a solid showing, coming in 20th with a time of 17 minutes, 10.9 seconds. Max Florence (17:46.40) and Colin McCann (17:48.96) rounded out the Cartersville participants, finishing 51st and 56th, respectively.
The Canes girls also competed in the silver event, finishing 20th out of 32 teams. McKinsey Spinks again led the squad, earning 24th out of 245 runners in 20 minutes, 44.57 seconds. Trinity Atkins (22:20.73) was 85th, Alice Terry (22:25.26) finished 89th, Metzil Munoz (25:47.45) wound up 198th and Samantha Herrera (26:10.61) placed 201st.
