The Cartersville High girls basketball team had a big fourth quarter to pull out a win Thursday in its last game at the Seven Hills Rotary/Rome News-Tribune Christmas Tournament in Rome.
The Lady Canes went on a 15-3 run in the fourth quarter to beat Model by a final score of 52-45.
The big fourth-quarter run was sparked by Naijah Evans, who, after entering the final period with two points in the game, scored eight in the fourth. Evans finished with a double-double with 11 rebounds.
Cartersville also made enough free throws down the stretch, hitting 6-of-12 in the fourth quarter to hold on for the win.
The strong shooting began in the first quarter, as the Canes hit three 3-pointers in the period.
Cartersville led 25-19 after the second quarter with Cio Seigler leading the way with three 3s in the half. Lehla Thomas also had 13 points for the game, 12 in the first three quarters.
The Lady Canes, now 4-3 on the year, will face Calhoun today on the road and Woodland at home on Saturday before the Christmas break.
