Cartersville boys’ soccer comes out with their first region win to improve to 5-1-1 and 1-0 in region play. Cartersville defeated Hiram 5-1. Giovanni Jacobo stated the scoring in the 12th minute after getting on the end of a ball that split the defense from Joel Zazueta. Hiram tied it up around the 25th minute. But Cartersville found the net when Joel Zazueta was taken down in the box. Joel would convert the ok to make it 2-1 in the 32nd minute. Cartersville would create a few more chances before the half finished but the Hiram keeper kept Cartersville of the board the rest of the half.
The second half open with a goal in the 5th minute from Antonio Garcia when Joel Zazueta dropped a ball behind the defense for Antonio to run onto. Joel Zazueta found a second goal in the 70th minute after he returned a rebound from a corner. Daniel Abeja would close out the game with a goal from outside the 18 with another assist from Joel Zazueta. Collier Parker saw out his first varsity when in the goal after the starting keeper went down in warm ups with an injury.
Cartersville boys will play SE Whitfield next Tuesday.
